General Internal Medicine

We can address various symptoms, such as treatment of lifestyle diseases and chronic diseases, examination of gastrointestinal symptoms using an endoscope, treatment of symptoms of cold, gastroenteritis, etc. in daily life, and symptoms of hay fever.

Departments of Consultation

The path of air from the mouth and nose to the lungs is called the respiratory tract, and to the throat and glottis is called the upper respiratory tract. "Cold" is inflammation of the upper respiratory tract caused by viruses and bacterial infections.

Influenza is an infectious disease contracted by infecting "influenza viruses". An infected person spreads the viruses in the air by coughing, sneezing, and other ways, and the other persons infect by inhaling the air.
Influenza usually prevails from autumn to early spring, but sometimes it also prevails in spring and summer.
The symptoms of influenza include sudden high fevers, headaches, arthralgia, muscle pain, sore throats, coughs, runny nose, etc. Stronger symptoms appear than normal colds.
It often causes bronchitis, pneumonia, etc., and leads to severe symptoms.
When influenza is prevalent, it involves enormous numbers of people from children to the elderly in a short period of time, unlike ordinary colds.

Headaches include chronic headaches, migraine, tension headaches, and cluster headaches, and so on.
Migraine is a paroxysmal headache with pulsating pain on one side of the head with the pulse of the heart.
Women in her 20s to 40s prone to have migraine, and it may cause nausea and vomiting. Currently, about 8% of Japanese are suffering from migraine.

A tension headache is a headache coming from a state of tension caused by stiff shoulders or neck, and stress.
This headache is a heavy tightening headache lasting for a long time.
It is said that middle-aged and older people prone to have it. People may develop tension headaches when they are unstable or tense in daily life.
Lack of exercise also cause this headache, and if it becomes chronic, some patients complain of a sense like migraine.

A cough (cough reflex) is a defensive reaction of the body to discharge viruses and foreign bodies entered from the outside, and secretions of the throat and trachea. Many of that are caused by viral infections and allergic reactions.
Some coughs last for a few days, while other chronic coughs last for more than a few weeks. However, if coughs last for more than 2 weeks, another disease is suspected.
In addition, even if symptoms are temporarily resolved with over-the-counter medicines, that may relapse or cause another disease if left untreated for a long period of time unless you treat the fundamental cause.

Insomnia is a state of decreased quality of sleep, such as having difficulty to sleep, shallow sleep, repeated waking up, no feeling of asleep, and so on.
Currently, it is said that 1 in 10 people have insomnia, and is increasing because of stressful society.
It is known to wake up early in the morning, and have more shallow sleep with aging.
Sleep varies from person to person. Some people have no problems for 3-4 hours of sleep, others feel that 7-8 hours of sleep is not enough.

The throat is the part which always touches the outside air.
The air contains bacteria and viruses, therefore the throat is said to be infected more easily than other parts.
Sore throat is caused by airway mucosal inflammation resulting from inflammation in the throat, nose, and trachea.

Gout is a syndrome that increased uric acid in blood generate crystals of uric acid in joints causing arthritis attacks, kidney stones, and kidney problems.
The characteristics of gout are that joints are swollen and you have severe pain. The symptoms will disappear after a few days to about 2 weeks, but that will relapse later.
Men in their 30s to 40s prone to develop the symptoms. If left untreated, the symptoms appear in various joints, and cause kidney diseases.
It is also caused by unhealthy lifestyle habits. Therefore, eating habits also need to be reviewed in addition to drug treatment.

Asthma is a state of repetitive dyspnea accompanied by wheezing. It is caused by chronic inflammation in the bronchus resulting in sensitive reaction of the respiratory tract.

Anemia is a disease that the hemoglobin level in blood decreases, and it causes symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, and dizziness.
Hemoglobin is contained in erythrocytes, and it combines with oxygen to transport oxygen into the body.
Generally, women prone to have anemia than men. The reason is iron deficiency caused by menstrual bleeding leading to decrease hemoglobin, and it results in iron deficiency anemia.
In addition, when oxygen is deficient, symptoms such as palpitations and shortness of breath appear with an increase in the heart rate to carry more oxygen.

Hyperlipidemia is a disease that cholesterol and triglycerides in blood increase. It is also called dyslipidemia.
When cholesterol and neutral fats in blood increase, lipids accumulate on the wall of the blood vessel. Then, blood flow deteriorates, and it causes arteriosclerosis.
Arteriosclerosis may cause cerebral infarction, stroke, myocardial infarction, etc.
Some people leave it because there are few symptoms, but you can prevent these diseases by treating early and improving your daily meals.

It is said that normal blood pressure is that systolic blood pressure is less than 120 mmHg and diastolic pressure is less than 80 mmHg. However, hypertension is a condition to continue that systolic blood pressure is 140 mmHg or more, and diastolic pressure is 90 mmHg or more.
